upgrading 4.0 to stable

This is the supported upgrade path.  But you should follow
the "To update from 4.0-RELEASE or later to the most current
4.x-STABLE" instructions in src/UPDATING very closely, the
most important thing is installing and rebooting with the
new kernel before running installworld.
