cvsup SetAttrs weirdness

been running cvsup to gather a complete repo for a few days now.
all is well except that when i change the prermissions on the
directories (to allow group reads) the following cvsup will ommit

:	Updating collection src-all/cvs
:	 SetAttrs src/bin

messages and change the permissions back to 755.

very annoying.

i've checked my cvsup config file and i don't have the 'preserve'
keyword anywhere.

anyone shed some light or offer a workaround?
