Port Index generation

Hi,

I am getting this error when building a ports index.

Updating the ports index ... Generating INDEX.tmp - please 
wait.."Makefile", line 1: Need an operator

make: fatal errors encountered -- cannot continue
===> japanese/mutt-devel failed
*** Error code 1
1 error

I have no "refuse" files and I do cvsup "ports-all"

My make.conf file is very simple

CPUTYPE=athlon64
WITHOUT_X11=yes
# added by use.perl 2007-03-02 12:45:27
PERL_VER=5.8.8
PERL_VERSION=5.8.8

Any help with this would be much appreciated.
