Can you reproduce that with anything other than beep-media-player?

How about enabling polling mode (dev.pcm.0.polling) ?
How about.. uhm.. staying out from X ? (need console player such as
mplayer, mpg123, etc).
How about.. uhm.. disabling all network interfaces ?
