Installing 4.9 on a Thinkpad T30

I think you probably have NumLock on. Note the small '4' on that key. I
bet 'k' echos as 'k'. Also the LED with the arrow pointing up with a
'1' inside is on in NumLock.

To turn off NumLock, press <SHIFT-ScrLk>.
