For the time being,
all i can say is that in a newly updated FreeBSD 5.3-STABLE #1
(with zero ports initially installed however),
linux-sun-jdk-1.4.2.05 's
freebsd# /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2/bin/java -version
java version "1.4.2_05"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_05-b04)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_05-b04, mixed mode)
freebsd# /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2/bin/java -server -version
