Hey Tim,
I have a server with a 2 x 2.4ghz xeons, a gigabyte motherboard, and a 2120s
setup in raid5 (3 drives and 1 hotspare, all seagate) running freebsd 6.2. I
didn't have any problems running the installer or the array being degraded.
The only problem I ran into was when I enabled more than 4GB of memory
support, the array would not sync correctly. I did have some odd behavior
before I updated my drives to the latest firmware, however two drives were
one revision and two were another revision. All in all I am very happy with
my setup.

Cheers,
