It looks that way, but I can't be sure.  I'm still baffled as to why
your snarf script was missing that ^L character.  Have you tried doing a
make distclean in the guile directory, then rebuilding?

I believe you.  It's an interesting problem to be sure.  Like I said, if
your patch works for you, then you can use it to build guile locally for
you.  All that will be different from the standard distribution are the
docs.  You could also install a guile package if you wanted.
