geom gate freezes the system

With no success I've tried on:
- virtualbox (freebsd 64 bits)
- vmware with a 32 bits version
- vmware with fullly provisionned disk

A friend of mine tried on his laptop running freebsd 8.2 64bits,
and he experienced the *same* system failure.

I have no clue of what's happening.
Could someone experienced in geom have a look please?
