The Assertion Failed messages are due to it requesting 256K buffer on the
socket ( read and write ) the fix for that is:
sysctl kern.ipc.maxsockbuf=524288

The crash is due to a bug in the glibc library I believe. Update your server using:
-beta linuxbeta
switch to steam and you should be good to go :)
