For the record, I was only clarifying my point of view on the topic.

(Off-topic, maybe this is the appropriate time to recommend the use of
tools such as cfengine for dot-files, etc.  Then, the backend VCS is
used only to commit/checkout, and otherwise is irrelevant.)
