Faulty hard disk hanging machine?

Well, not really as it show out. Today I tested the same hardware, but now
running kernel 2.2.19 and aic7xxx 6.1.11 and everything works just fine,
without any problems.

I could not test the combination of linux 2.4.4 with aic7xxx 6.1.11 as
the aic7xxx 6.1.11 patch for linux 2.4.4 doesn't seem to exist (but I'd
be more than happy to do some tests with this combination).
However, it seems to me that aic7xxx 6.1.13 and 39160 don't cooperate very
well. The machine freezes even if no device is connected to 39160 bu all
of them to 2940.
