Question of fairness

I read about the 08:11 aka 08:17 problem in kernel-mailing-list.
What speaks against marking HEX numbers as 0xfoo and leaving
the dec. as is ?
Well, on the the other hand one is obliged to look at sources to get
the format of expressions which also has a learn-effect ;-))
