Ok, so add another int and you can track both lengths.
 Why do you want to use sbufs sighting failures when
you said you stress tested the code for three hours
and could not make it fail with your redundant fix
present?
This is getting old.  I think this code is fine but I
don't work on the MAC framework (and wish I never had)
so if you wanna replace it using sbufs, assembly code,
or COBOL be my guest, I could care less.
