make buildkernel for GENERIC 9-STABLE just hangs, no error (was svn commit: r249549 - in stable/9/sys: amd64/conf i386/conf)

I have to admit that I didn't wait for an hour, as buildkernel usually
complete within 30 minutes on my system. I just tried to build the kernel
on another very similar system, no problems there. I forgot to mention that
I tried to upgrade from an 8-STABLE from last summer directly to the latest
9-STABLE. Most likely its just something very wrong with my setup and a
complete reinstallation would probably be a good idea.
Thanks for your help.
