I am working around this currently with (random example):
jail_NAME_conf=“/usr/local/etc/jail.NAME.conf"
for each jail. Works fine. Not having to do that anymore and
“assuming” NAME can be a distinct config file as well in a directory
(I can control, e.g. is not /etc/) would be helpful.
