I stick to what I wrote above and so chose the status quo.
The backout would make sense if it is immediately followed by commit of a better
solution.  Unfortunately, a lack of time here too.

P.S.
Nobody yet complained about actually running into an edge case, while I
personally know at least one person to whom the intermingled messages caused
some grief, especially given that they happened in /var/log/security.
