-m32 is not a hack, it is a standard feature on Linux and Solaris,
allowing to build both 32 and 64 bit binaries in the host environment,
not going to cross-compilation or chroot. It is very much missing on
the FreeBSD.

Merged x86 tree is ortoghonal to this feature.
