We have a lot of "::" instead of "/" in the patch names, just see:

ls /usr/ports/*/*/files/*::* | wc -l
    1490

IMHO the fix you ask should be centralized for all ports and not in the
time of ports feature freeze. Pass this issue to our portmgr@
