A (somewhat) short answer, I'll get to the details tomorrow when I feel
less tired.
I just (tried) to follow the very generalized example in the section
above, and since I found that example hard to follow I thought a more
concrete example would be good.  The instructions I wrote try to follow
the generalized instructions.

With that said, there is probably room for improvements, and I will look
into your suggestions, but not tonight.
