Please try a 'like for like' comparison - i.e. run:

  dd if=/dev/zero of=test.dat bs=64k count=20480

(Will consume ~1.2Gb of disk space) and see what that comes back with. It's
still not a  'proper' test but will at least give us a comparison between your
system - and here (both running the same command).
