I have a very similar T520 (i5-2520M CPU @ 2.50GHz (2491.96-MHz K8-class CPU))
and Sandy Bridge. Running modesetting driver, mesa 19.0.8 and
drm-fbsd12.0-kmod. X running with default configuration (no DEVICE congig.
glxgears runs at about 6000 fps.

While glxgears is not impressive, no problems so far.
