Upgrade to xorg-server-1.20 broke nvidia-driver-304.
Details:

Motherboard ASUS M2NPV-MX with integrated video GeForce 6150,
FreeBSD 11.3-RELEASE-p6 i386,
X installed entirely from packages (pkg.freebsd.org latest),
long old-style /etc/X11/xorg.conf : https://pastebin.com/uYBppQqP

I did `pkg upgrade` which upgraded these versions:

libinput-1.15.1             <  needs updating (port has 1.15.2)
nvidia-driver-304-304.137_5  <  needs updating (port has 304.137_6)
xf86-input-keyboard-1.9.0_3  <  needs updating (port has 1.9.0_4)
xf86-input-mouse-1.9.3_2    <  needs updating (port has 1.9.3_3)
xf86-video-scfb-0.0.5       <  needs updating (port has 0.0.5_2)
xf86-video-vesa-2.4.0_2     <  needs updating (port has 2.4.0_3)
xkbcomp-1.4.2               <  needs updating (port has 1.4.3)
xorg-drivers-7.7_5          <  needs updating (port has 7.7_6)
xorg-server-1.18.4_13,1     <  needs updating (port has 1.20.7,1)

Then after reboot `startx` failed:
