I probably see the same issue. My system freezes the moment firefox starts,
long before any window is drawn, but glxgears runs fine. I probably should test
a few other things like mpv and virtualbox. In any case, it's not just the use
of mesa-libs.

I will try the patch shortly and see how that works for me.

Please update the ticket to "Affects some people".
