second thunderbolt Apple display (daisy-chained) seen as disconnected though recognized

Greetings,
On a Thinkpad T480 (-CURRENT / drm-devel-kmod / i915), when I connect 2
Apple Display (thunderbolt 2) daisy chained to an Apple Thunderbolt 3
<-> Thunderbolt 2 adapter, dmesg tells both screens are detected but the
daisy chained screen is not detected by Xorg and remains black.
Both screens are detected (usbconfig gives the same details on both
screens), I can even use the integrated broadcom NIC (seen as bge0 and
bge1) of both display.
The first screen direct power-on at boot leaving the daisy-chained one
in an off state, but if I hot-unplug the daisy-chained display from the
first display, X start to freeze (with mouse moving at slow speed and in
an irregular manner).
xrandr see DP-2 (daisy-chained display) as disconnected
X doesn’t get any EDID from the second (daisy-chained) screen (both
are identical)
Is there a way to “force” X recognition of that second daisy chained
Apple Display ?
Could it be related to a lack of power (voltage ) ?
