You can always try to rebuild kernel with option EVDEV_SUPPORT disabled. It
should trigger old-style behavior of auto-configuration backends. Or manually
attach xf86-input-keyboard driver to kbdmux in xorg.conf.

Michael's advice with uhid is worth a try also.
