SDL2 on FreeBSD currently uses USB devices directly (IIRC via libusb), so make
sure you have permissions on the corresponding ugen / dev/usb devices. Nothing
xorg/evdev related affects SDL2 installed from ports.

I've tried to make it use evdev

but it did not work yet.

btw, speaking of "XInput" in evdev, you can use a native kernel driver now
instead of webcamd :) https://github.com/wulf7/iichid
