xfce4 using 100% cpu

wrapper runs things in the panel (may be responsible for other things too).
I haven't investigated. But some of the machines I run xfce4 on, will
always have a wrapper core file. My experience indicates that the
monitoring plugins in the panel can use a good many CPU cycles. The
System Load Monitor, for example. The other being Network Monitor.
You might try removing any plugins in your panel(s), and see if the CPU
usage drops.
