Which graphics driver are you using, the one in the base system, or one from
drm-kmod?  For the latter to work, you need to add
kld_list="/boot/modules/i915kms.ko" to /etc/rc.conf.  Can you try using that
driver instead, alternatively, is there a chance you can update to FreeBSD
12.0?
