We can reopen the PR if the issue persist.

You can try installing drm-kmod and adding kld_list="/boot/modules/i915kms.ko"
to /etc/rc.conf, or load /boot/modules/i915kms.ko manually with kldload, and
see if the new driver works better.  If you are on STABLE, or with a custom
kernel, you have to build the kmod from ports, that's because it has to match
the kernel.
