Thanks a lot for the link, I think I've tried pretty much everything to remove
that final entry from /boot/loader.conf, from boot-parameters to
accessing /boot/ from live-system, this has been a complete failure so far.

Nonetheless I am deeply in love already with True-OS, so I will probably just
re-install, while yesterday I spent half the day on that, particularly on
initial configurations and finding my way around, today it is probably going
to be one or two hours only.

As far as I see, True-OS is currently pretty much identical with
FreeBSD-current(13), and I do want to stick with it, because it is supposed
to be desktop-optimized, some specific True-OS packages are there.

In order to tell you the truth, I've tried it because Hugin is broken in
Debian:

So I do need hardware-accelerated graphics in order to be able to assemble
panoramic images, and I saw already, there is the Xorg-version 7.7, same as
in Debian oldstable, so this should definitely be stable enough.
