Testing the new i915 driver (rev. 3820047)

Test Scenario #3:
- boot kernel.i915
  - drm.debug=3
  - do _not_ load i915kms at boot
- switch to a non-console TTY
- test suspend to ram (acpiconf -s 3) and resume
- test suspend & resume via X11 session
- test suspend & resume with additional monitor
- test video playback after resume

Harware:
- Thinkpad T430
- Intel i5 dual-core, 4 threads
- Ivy Bridge with Intel HD4000 GPU

Software stack (FreeBSD quarterly repo):
dri-10.6.8,2
libGL-10.6.8
xorg-server-1.14.7_6,1
xf86-video-intel-2.21.15_8

freebsd-version -u:
10.2-RELEASE-p5

NOTE: Xorg is using SNA acceleration instead of the default UXA, since UXA makes OpenGL apps crash. Configuration /usr/local/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-intel.conf:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Intel IGP"
Driver "intel"
Option "AccelMethod" "SNA"
Option "TearFree" "true"
EndSection

NOTE2: I will test UXA acceleration later with a separate scenario.

After boot, XDM started (loading i915kms as expected) without problems.

Switched to second TTY (non-console) and did acpiconf -s 3

Laptop suspended. Resume also worked without issues.

Tested suspend & resume from xterm. Both suspend and resume worked, after resume X11 VTY came back (as it should).

Configured second monitor:
$ xrandr --output HDMI3 --right-of LVDS1 --auto

Tested suspend & resume from xterm. No problems, okay. Both monitors (LVDS1 and HDMI3) came back online after resume.

Tested video playback with www/chromium in Youtube. Full HD 1080p constant motion video plays fine, no tearing, chrome CPU use 20-25%. This is actually far better than what I get with Debian 8 + Compton compositor (compton required in Debian to prevent video tearing).

Thus we can conclude that for now suspend and resume works.

Attachments:
- dmesg.boot
- Xorg.0.log

Console output redirected to /var/log/messages. I saved /var/log/messages to http://koti.kapsi.fi/~isoa/kernel.i915/scenario3/messages.xz
