Ok, then vt(9) is what you want to use :) In FreeBSD 11, there's a "VT"

That's what I meant. Those are non-KMS modules and can't be used by the
newer X.Org stack.

KMS drivers are only available as module for now, it's not possible to
build them into the kernel. If you still want to load them early at
boot, you can do that from your /boot/loader.conf. See this wiki page:
