 Mentioned in one mail sent in response to this PR is an (old) attempt to have 
 the Nvidia proprietary driver working that failed with a resource error (see 
 the PR).
 
 I do not have the hardware available right now so I cannot conduct new tests 
 in a reasonable timeframe. I'll open another PR if I find that the problem 
 persists.
