What still requires HAL?

Not with AutoAddDevices off, or even better, with xorg-server built with 
HAL disabled.

But that's just X.  DEs have other requirements.  xfce doesn't 
require it if the options are disabled in x11-wm/xfce4-session and 
devel/gvfs.
