Still getting hangs with Xorg 7.5

You're probably right, it just happened to be something I tweaked about a year 
and a half ago. I don't recall it being necessary.

KDE still refuses to recognize compositing capability in the settings dialog, 
however, turning it on in the kwinrc file shows that it works just fine.
