I only have 1024 vertical px.  As far as I can tell, in a side-by-side
configuration, the problems start as soon as I write pixels onto the
RH window.  I will do so more careful checks and see if there's any
region on the left side of the RH display that is OK.

That's the normal configuration.  I have also tried stacking
vertically (so I have a 1280x2048 VFB).  In this case, the top ~1/4 of
the lower screen is OK (and a slightly smaller region at the bottom
also appears OK) and the rest is corrupt.  I've tried increasing the
VFB size (via a "Screen" Virtual directive) to no avail.

Definitely not related to 2048 horizontal px.
