Times change. dbus and hald use with X are covered in the latest version of
the handbook -- see Section 5.4.2 here:

http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/x-config.html

This is apparently a transitory state of affairs as the xorg people are
somewhat disenchanted with the dbus/hald solution (not to mention any
number of users who have been bitten by it) and by all accounts the next
release will do things differently again.

	Cheers,

	Matthew
