Similar behavior on FreeBSD 7.1-RELEASE-p1 with xf86-video-intel.
Pressing CTRL+ALT+BS leads to system hung or reboot. When DRI is
enabled in xorg.conf such messages appear in /var/log/messages:

error: [drm:pid10849:i915_getparam] *ERROR* i915_getparam called with
 no initialization
error: [drm:pid1500:i915_getparam] *ERROR* Unknown parameter 5

Temporary solution which works for me:
 1) disable moused in rc.conf
 2) add "AllowEmptyInput" "off" in xorg.conf's ServerLayout section
 3) disable DRI in xorg.conf's Device section

When moused enabled and no AllowEmptyInput specified - my IceWM behaves
quite strange - clock seems to stop on mouse movement (hal is upgraded
 as wrote in UPDATING/20090124).
