solved: glxinfo shows: ERROR! sizeof(I830DRIRec) does not match passed size from device driver

There were still some old libraries lying around in /usr/X11R6 from  
prior testing.  Blew them away and all is well.

And I've got DRI working for the first time ever!  Yay \o/
