/usr/local/bin/xinit tries to start /usr/X11R6/bin/Xorg

The correct fix (see various postings on -ports) is:
# ln -s /usr/local /usr/X11R6

Whilst X11-related ports are now installed in /usr/local, not all
ports have been fixed to refer to /usr/local for dependencies.
This will be corrected over time.
