XFree86 6.8 has not yet been released :)
But yes, the upgrade of X.Org port is being worked on - see the archives for 
x11 at freebsd.org mailing list. I'll post a fixed patch for an upgade (I 
managed to mess up previous one: xorg-681-up-5.diff) a bit later for people 
who like to experiment to test it and see (and hopefully also report to this 
list) if everything works.
