I don't believe it has broken anything. 
I am getting numerous (alot) info in syslog related to ath0, which I don't recall seeing before the kernel rebuild. But after looking at the patch source code it doesn't appear to be related to the patch.

ie,

(was getting that message alot also before rebuilding)

seemingly new: but maybe these were there before and I just missed it.
