Hi edenist,
thank you for the tip regarding the deactivation some mitigation
features in the kernel of the vm. Disabling the kernel module
'spectre_v2' of the VM does not cause the kernel panic:
root at host:~ # diff /srv/vmm/alpine/alpine.conf
/srv/vmm/alpine/alpine.spectre_v2=off.conf

< grub_install0="linux /boot/vmlinuz-virt initrd=/boot/initramfs-virt
alpine_dev=cdrom:iso9660
modules=loop,squashfs,sd-mod,usb-storage,sr-mod"

In my experience, it is related to meltdown/spectre mitigations, in particular those which are using features/MSRs implemented through microcode. There appears to be some confusion when a linux VM expects CPU features to be available, but they aren't properly exposed on the host.
