Not sure why I didn't see the bug in time.Sorry. :-)

Here the error in the attachmetn in comment #1 is: "Setup of Shared code
failed, error -2".

It looks dev/e1000/if_em.c: e1000_setup_init_funcs() -> e1000_init_phy_params
fails.

I'm not sure why it works with Gen-1 VM, but not with Gen-2.

What's the PCI Device ID of the Intel NIC? I'm not sure if I have the same NIC
here.
