So, I cloned the machine, to giuve me something to experiment with, and the
clone panics in the same way. Watching it boot, it only does this when it gets
to the networking part of the boot - and the message before it is that hn0 has
status of DWON. I am surprised that it is also finding the hn0 interface - is
that expected ?

Am trying to recover the box now, and will remove all networjking refernces
from rc.conf to see what it does. Will then try a rebuild from todays STABLE
and see if that works.
