This bug has obviously not been given the attention it deserves. With the
planned release of versions 12.2 in October of this year and 13.0 next March,
it will certainly not bode well for FreeBSD or its user base if they are
released with this bug still intact.

Since this bug did not exist in versions prior to 12.x, there should exist some
mechanism to backtrack and discover what went wrong.
