This same patch has been committed to -CURRENT now, thanks!
(unfortunately I didn't spot this PR until after tracking down the
bug independently - should have checked other PRs first...)

I'll merge it into 6-STABLE and 5-STABLE in a week or so, and keep
the other related usb/88886 PR open until that is done.
