Creation of UFS snapshots of filesystems having lots of files is inefficient,
slow and was prone to deadlocks in 10.3-STABLE (I still run a couple of such
hosts and one of them deadlocked last week on UFS shapshot creation). I'm not
sure if that bug was fixed or not in modern versions.

Anyway, GNU tar had no such problem for many years and I do not see why bsdtar
should break on ENOENT.
