root at srv01:~ # zfs get mountpoint,canmount zroot/usr
NAME PROPERTY VALUE SOURCE
zroot/usr mountpoint /usr local
zroot/usr canmount off local

Yes, it has a mountpoint but is not mounted there. It's just to get
mountpoint inherited to lets say zroot/usr/ports

As we found out this is an (mostly undocumented) feature, not a bug.
